The pimp/touts will annoy the fuck out you in Shinjuku (if you are a guy walking alone) otherwise it's a great place to visit. Japan is relatively inexpensive, clean and safe and a great place to vacation but not to monger. Like he says, go to Thailand or the Philippines for women, much more bang for the buck. A "date" that costs ~$200 in Japan goes for ~$30 in Thailand and is less hassle.
